Antiques Etcetera, Inc. was created in 1989 by sisters Denise Halkias and Martha M. Halkias. Denise is a professional interior designer and has been a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) since 1974. Martha, before the creation of Antiques Etcetera, was the director of Hess’s Fine Arts Gallery in Pennsylvania and then moved overseas, where she held the post of director of social & cultural activities at the American College of Greece. She also worked as a curator for the Philip & Muriel Berman private art collection. When the sisters pulled their expertise and talents into creating Antiques Etcetera, Inc., their objective was to create a unique store that showcases American, English, and French antiques, along with fine art by internationally-known artists in various media, antique porcelain, and unusual accessories (both antique and contemporary) — in addition to providing professional interior design services for their clients. After a quarter of a century in business, they continue to offer works of quality and beauty. Throughout the years they have hosted many special events including art exhibitions, book signings with local authors, and lectures on topics ranging from contemporary French and Russian artists to 16th century Chinese porcelain.
